Happy Easter!

On Easter Eve, Kate and I headed to the park near our house to participate in its annual egg hunt. Never a big fan of crowds or throngs of kids running wild, Kate chose to watch as the kids went nuts. Eventually, Kate couldn't resist and grabbed a few goodies. After finding a handful of candy, Kate said, "That's enough, Mom. I don't need anymore." Gluttony is not normally one of Kate's sins. Unless there's popcorn involved. Or cake. Kate didn't want to take a picture with the Easter Bunny, but she wanted to check him out to see if he was "real." She had seen the Easter Bunny last week on the Santa Monica Pier and was thoroughly disappointed when she saw hands sticking out of the costume. "It's not the real Easter Bunny, Momma! He has human hands!" This time, there were just paws, and Kate was pleased. Later she told Appa, "It was the real Easter Bunny! He had a long zipper down his back!" We told Kate we thought we heard the real Easter Bunny come by while she was sleeping. She searched around the house, and when she spotted the basket under the stairs, she dove for it like she was sliding into home base: On Easter Sunday, we headed over to Lucy's house for brunch and a private egg hunt. While Hilary read the girls an Easter story, Chris and Amy D. hid the eggs all around the lawn.
The proud hunters.
Showing off their loot.
The Easter Bunny brought them stickers, candy, and Jibbitz for their crocs. After consuming too much candy, the girls spent the rest of the day picking clovers and pretending they were flower girls. It was a lovely Easter.
