K - A - T - E!
A couple of months ago, Kate started writing letters in earnest, practicing the four letters in her (nick) name over and over, usually in the car. She wrote the above at school last week to label her drawing.
Kate and Mom hid from the horrible air quality from the fires last weekend and went to the mall. We stopped in The Disney Store for a birthday present for a friend. Kate spied the princess dresses and fell in love. She's been obsessed with all things "Sleeping Beauty" lately, so we picked out a Princess Aurora dress. Kate tried it on in the store and immediately said, "Mom, I don't want to take this off. Can I wear it outside?" At the cash register, the girl told Kate that she had to scan the tag and take the security tag off, but Kate refused to take off the dress, even for a second. So the good-natured girl brought Kate around to her side, held her up, and got the tag off, to the great amusement of the people waiting in line. Kate wore her dress for the rest of the afternoon, drawing a lot of big smiles from people of all ages. It actually shocked me how much attention the dress attracted. Oh, the power of Disney. No matter how hard you try to fight it, it will suck you in. It will beat you.
