Swine Flu Vac and Friends

Saturday was a gloriously cool, autumn day in Los Angeles. Perfect weather for getting the H1N1 vaccine and meeting up with friends. The Hollywood free clinic was distributing the vaccine, and by some stroke of luck there were hardly any people (unlike the 1,500 people that showed up at the park last week!). Chris, Kate, and I were all very brave and got our shots even though we "really, really, really didn't want to." What better way to take the ouchies away than to meet Uncle Mike for lunch? When he walked through the door with a big smile, Kate's face lit up and the shot was forgotten. We dined al fresco at a Thai restaurant in West Hollywood and topped off lunch with vanilla ice cream and "banana roll-ups," or mashed bananas inside a fried spring roll shell. Delicious! Afterwards, we said goodbye to Mike and went to Amy D., Hilary, and Lucy's house to introduce Miss Lily. While Lily dozed, Lucy and Kate played soccer, read books, took rides in Lucy's wagon, and laughed their heads off.
By the time we got home, it was pitch black outside, and we were all pooped. Miss Lily did wonderfully, and she even allowed us to hit the sack early that night.
It was a very good day.
