Christmas Time and Nana are Here!

On Christmas Eve, Kate, Nana, and Mom baked sugar cookies to leave for Santa Claus. Appa's jury duty was finally over ("Guilty! Happy Holidays!") and all the Christmas shopping and mailing madness were done. Baking and spending time with Nana was a welcome respite. The recipe we used was for "soft and chewy" sugar cookies, which made the dough soft and sticky, like moist playdough. A finger bowl and some sprinkled sugar did the trick. Kate had a grand time sprinkling... ...and dumping the sprinkles. Kate's mouth and teeth turned completely pink after eating this cookie. We called her "Pinkerella" (quoting the book, "Pinkalicious" -- thank you, Soo Eemo!), which Kate found hilarious. She quickly chomped on two spears of asparagus to flush the pink away (thank you, "Pinkalicious" authors!). Strangely enough, it worked. "Mom! I'm not pink anymore! I'm me again!"
Kate is very pleased with her handiwork.
