Cousin Eunjae
Kate's 21-month old cousin, Eunjae, came to visit from San Jose. Her mom, Yeunjee Eemo ("Aunt Yeunjee") had a funeral to go to in L.A. and drove down for a couple of days. At the end of the month, Yeunjee and Eunjae are headed to Korea for a year so that Yeunjee can do research on her dissertation. We were lucky they were able to stop by and see us before they left.
Kate was excited about seeing "Baby Eunjae," but when she saw all the attention Eunjae's cuteness and precociousness was attracting, the normally chatty Kate got very quiet and kept her distance. She also wasted no time in regressing and began using baby talk.
As they inhaled several pounds of crackers, carrots, cheese, and olives Kate and Eunjae's rapport quickly improved. Kate even kissed and petted Eunjae like a kitten and cooed. Eunjae is an extremely bright and thoughtful 21-month old. She walked around the house quietly observing everything, and when something interested her, she would carefully pick it up and examine it. She even lined up Kate's markers and put the cap on the end of each one. Had Eunjae been typical bull-in-a-China-shop 21-month old, Kate probably would have had a heart attack.
After dinner, cake, and snowflake-decorating, Yeunjee and Eunjae drove back to LA, and Kate said goodnight to Pop-Pop.
The next morning, Pop-Pop flew back to New Jersey. She misses Baby Eunjae and Pop-Pop already.
